libertango

So once i got to a certain age i realized that halloween is just too good of an opportunity to walk around in anything i want without a care for time of place or anybody telling me to "tone it down". Especially when i started to realize that all the costumes i would choose were usually a character and no one ever knew what i was and the clothes were nothing special and could be worn any other day. So now i see halloween as just a day i can dress as outlandishly as my little heart desires. Last year i just went trick-or-treating with a friend from school and we ended running into walmart so her aunt could pick up a last minute costume for her neice and that was my favorite part, just being able to wear flamboyant clothes in a routine place and having an excuse for it. Not saying that no one can dress flamboyantly without halloween as an excuse, believe me i used to sport a furby halloween costume nowhere near the time of halloween, but for some reason i feel like i earned it. Like all those times i did get my eyes rolled at me, or got stared at, or had some bitch say "bowling shoes are you serious" behind me I can just say HA i can wear whatever the fuck i want today and its appropriate go fuck yourself.

This year i've been tickled by the idea of wearing a blanket. You know when you're around the house and it's cold and you end up wearing a blanket wrapped around you as you get some more juice out of the fridge. It happened when it was my birthday (another day i get to have an excuse for wearing anything i want) and i felt kind of shitty and i just wanted to wear my duvet out to eat (my parents even begrudgingly said it was fine, i didn't though) and so i wrapped it around me and slipped on my tennis shoes and i just thought it was such a fine look. Wrapped in a blanket wearing tennis shoes i thought it just seemed so gross and rugged and even funny with the impracticality of the blanket but the functionality of tennis shoes. so i got a sleeping bag and i'm going to chop some arm holes in it so i can actually wear it than just having a heavy a blanket draped around me.

and then i remembered a while back i saw a performance of bjork on a talk show during the vespertine era where her fingertips were dyed white
and that image stuck with me a while and i was thought it was so beautiful so i thought this halloween was the perfect time to do it with my blanket costume but only dyed black because black is my favorite color. And it was so funny because literally two days after i decided to do that i started seeing pictures on tumblr of black fingertips

As for my hair i plan on doing some cool bjork medulla era inspired braiding and for my make up i'm thinking white face nude lips and messy black eyes. I'm pretty pumped about this idea and i'm excited to see how it all comes together and if i get to go to a grocery store again.
