under the cherry moon

so a lot of people talk shit about Prince's 1986 movie under the cherry moon  (it won a raspberry award for worst picture) but i don't know why. yeah it's really cheesy, the acting is over acted, the dialogue is seldom catchy or serious, and the plot isn't necessarily inspiring or moving but man, oh man is it stylish. and what's wrong with a super stylish campy movie? the cinematography, who was done by michael ballhaus who did films with rainer werner fassbinder and martin scorsese, is so gorgeous! So a visually stunning film with a silly plot with a kick ass soundtrack stamped with Prince's face it sounds just how it should be and it's everything i want it to be.
