Lately i've been really into surrealism and science fiction. Which is really strange for me because for the past year i thought that i had myself pegged as someone who was just really into reality. you know seinfeldian conversations and ambiance and shit like that which i'm still into, you show me a movie or manga where nothing happens and everyone just hangs out and i will like it, but lately there's something about surrealism that's really resonating with me. Last night i saw riddick with a friend and i never heard anything about this movie but with a really loose synopsis i knew exactly what it was going to be like. It wasn't that great of a movie but i knew it was going to be on some surreal barren wasteland and be like aeon flux but less cyberpunk and more futuristic tribal with a bunch of weird creatures and i was excited to see all that happen. It reminded me of moebius's work, now i've never actually read any of it because fantasy has never interested me much, but i knew of him and i always liked the images i seen around.

It reminds me of almost a european take on science fiction which makes it seem very classic and timeless but the colors and subject still make it seem juvenile so it all makes me feel a bit comfortable and nostalgic but still excited by the dramatics which is how surreal paintings make me feel but then you do the ultimate and surrealists do still lifes and then it's like everything thats very fantasy and exciting becomes reality and boring again and theres something in that that moves me.
